Craft room re-do

First "phase" done. I'm so TIRED!!!  Painted walls, brought desk upstairs (in pieces, of course). Assembled desk, partially cleaned off old work desk. Spray painted some baskets and a shelf in my accent colors of black/red.

Phase two will have to wait until Saturday. Need to finish sorting things.Hang some of my storage shelves, get old desk out, clean the nasty stained blinds that came with the house and that's about all I think I can get done for a bit. We shall see.  Here are some progress pics.

Craft room re-do countdown... Paint purchased and will be applied tomorrow. My goal is to get at least 2 walls done, but might go all out and get them all.  Paint color "Stratosphere" with red and black accent pieces.  Will post pics when able.

Wow, so who knew??  I posted pics of my art/craft space on another site, because I'm planning to re-do it.  I posted last night at about 10pm and this morning...BAM so many views and some lovely comments to support me. Folks actually want to see progress pics and after pics. It made me feel really good about starting this project. So, here's the skinny.... I'm NOT the most organized person in the world, which is not surprising to folks who know me.  With that being said, I do TRY... I've always wanted my own space and when Hubby and I moved into this house we had extra room.  I chose this room because it has a huge window and high ceilings. It didn't feel small even tho it is.  I think it's around 10 x 10?? maybe a bit larger.. Anyway, I have accumulated a lot of stuff since we moved in and it just grew out of control. I wanted to paint but didn't have a clear idea of what color would make me happy.  Finally I decided on a nice light blue with gray tones. The first color I picked was robins egg blue, which although very cheery, seemed that it would be too baby-ish to paint the whole thing in.  Long story short, I'm going to try, very dilligently, to post the progress here on my blog in hopes that it may inspire someone or at the very least, provide some comedic relief.  I don't mind being laughed at, really....

Sometimes I think my job is just a job.  Then a client, who is very exacting in how she wants her little princess groomed, tells me today, that none of the other groomers she has been to, have done a better job than me!

Every day I struggle with the fact that I never went to school to learn how to groom.  I'm self taught and feel like there is so much I still don't know.  I continue to take classes and read whatever I can get my hands on, but I still feel like a formal education is the defining factor.  Why I do this, I don't know.  I have a growing clientele (had to hire my first employee) and repeat/loyal clients who tell me that no groomer has ever done such a good job on their pet, as I have.  I also have inherited "problematic" dogs. These dogs have actually been kicked out of other grooming establishments for things like: biting or being snappish, being too wiggly or being too old and complicated to work on.  I take these dogs and make them beautiful.  I don't complain to a client but I do try to be up front. They know when their little baby is a bit difficult, I don't feel the need to rub it in and certainly won't ban them from coming to me (tho I may WANT to :o)

I think this may be the year I decide to cut myself some slack!  I may not have formal education, but I really do a great job.  I learn something new every day and I'm a bit OCD about things.  I just need to quit beating myself up.  So there!! Take that EGO!!!

Feelin' better already.

Just sayin'

Well, now that the week is over... What a great one too.  My dear husband, Tracy, decided that just one day to celebrate Valenties was not enough.  He started on Monday - brought me 6 HUGE chocolate covered strawberries and a romantic card. Tuesday I got a lovely satin covered box of chocolates and a funny and romantic card. Wednesday I received a dozen gorgeous red roses and ANOTHER romantic card.  Then to top all that off, Thursday we renewed our wedding vows!!!  He never ceases to surprise me with his creativity, his love and support.  He truly is my soul-mate.  Just when I think no one understands how I feel, he does just the right thing.  I love him so much and am so blessed to have him in my life.

Can't wait!!

So looking forward to the Blogger's Luncheon this Saturday!  Lot's of new folks to meet and fun stuff to make.

Then, next weekend, I'm "running" in the Dirty Girl Mud Run here in Phoenix.  It's a FUN 5k obstacle course, in mud, of course!  Gonna run with my girlz - our group name is a LOVELY BUNCH OF COCONUTS.  We have coconuts painted on our pink shirts! Too much fun.

Here are a couple of items I've made in the past few days
