Show me yours and I'll show you mine - inside Dog-Ma studio

Today I have joined a real world look at artists studios, not the fancy kind you see in magazines, but what someone's workspace REALLY looks like. A project thought up by artist Seth Apter, please visit his blog to see all the artist participating  http://thealteredpage.blogspot.co.uk/

So, without further delay, here is my space:
My desk, actually pretty clean only because I'm starting a new piece and needed some space to play. This is where most of my mediums, paints, brushes, pens, pencils, sprays, inks, etc. live
This is my wall of fun.. Mostly items I have received from other artists but some I have made.

Next to my desk, a pile of stuff that really should be elsewhere, my ratties, my cubbie storage for papers, embellishments, frames, projects in process.... stuff..
My jewelry stuff, Cricket machine and tea table (please ignore the dis-colored blinds they are cheapo and sunburned and came with the house. I plan on putting up curtains but never seem to find the time. Ok, I'm too lazy to move all the stuff to get to the window.

The closet of terror, mostly have no idea what lives in there, someday I may brave it and find out.
Mr. Tanner eating (not sure he's ever NOT eating)

Miss Nebula, Tanner's girl (don't worry he's fixed) She is also eating, it's the only way I could get her still enough to take a picture.

  1. Isn't it funny that we all have a treasure trove of stacks... Of papers and "stuff". Love it.

    1. I noticed that too. I also noticed that most of us end up only using about a 12 x 12 inch space whilst working because the rest of our table is taken up by "stuff" for the project.

  2. I would give ANYTHING to have a desk that sits against a wall, and that has cubbies behind it. Yours is wonderful, and I can tell it holds a LOT. Sadly, mine will never look that way.

I simply adore your wall of fun and the Scottie dog that is center stage. Thank you for sharing your space, because I can see this is one well used (and useful) studio.

    1. Thank you... I actually got the desk on Craigslist for $15, what a score! I am a groomer, hence the dog paraphernalia scattered around the room.. scotty is a chalkboard which rarely gets used.

  3. you have a tea station!!!! that is genius... wonder if i can squeeze one into my space... I may never come out again if I do... and the blinds would stay in my place as well...moving all that would do my head in...xx

    1. Tracey, even when it's 115 degrees here in AZ I still have a soft spot for my tea. I purchased a silly little one cup coffee maker at a rummage sale, cleaned the heck out of it and put it on there with a little tray, a biscuit tin full of teas and a couple of mugs and sweeteners. I have a 2 story house and bad knees so I hate to always have to go downstairs for my tea, this solved that problem. Thank you for visiting

  7. Oh, I love that you have named that closet. We all have one - whether it's piles or drawers or stacks or (etc!). Fun to find you via Seth.

  8. Now I want a wall of fun...brilliant idea and it truly is inspiring and fun to look at. Okay, the closet scares me. ha ha Although you may have some treasures stashed in there...maybe a pair of curtains. I completely understand being too lazy to move stuff to get to the window. Or I'm too lazy to do anything else but artwork. Thank you for following my Blog...so happy to have met you! Cheers-Darlene

    1. HAHAHA Darlene, there probably are A LOT of cool things in that closet, I'm just not that brave.. Maybe someday.. Now as for the curtains.. Looking at that ugly window blind, I just felt down... Went and bought some curtains to put up. Now just to find the time and make the effort to put them there.. SIGH

  9. Love the way you have shelves/storage above your desk and those cups on the wall for pens, etc.

  10. I love looking inside and seeing the real behind the scenes.
You have organized chaos, and I bet a good idea of where most things are.
We all have stacks of :oh, I forgot I had that."
I like the bins on the walls for the pens and things.
